Some of the cars (and boats) I have owned since I passed my test back in 1976!...
1976-1978. This was my first car - a Mini 850cc.
1978-1981. My second car was a Mini Cooper 998cc
1978-1983. This was my first Ski-Boat - a little Fletcher Arrowflight with a 75hp Mercury Outboard.
1983-1984. The next was a Fiat 850 - Bought it and ran it in Sweden for 6 months with collapsed rear suspension. Drove it back to England and the back wheel fell off going round a roundabout.
1984-1985. Then came the Hillman Hunter - eventually died of a sick engine.
1986-1987. A real tatty old Hillman Avenger - died of rear axle transmission failure.
1987-1988. My lovely 5 cylinder Audi Coupe - smooth
1988. My very first Alfa Romeo - a 2 litre GTV. Fantastic fun - sadly it just rusted away.....
1989-1991. Mini Mayfair. Company staff car.
1989-2002. Alfa Romeo GTV6. 2.5litre V6. Wow - just loved it! Sadly it became too expensive to maintain in its old age.
1989-1995. Ford XR2. Used it as a run around - kept the mileage off the GTV6 and it was less hungry to feed!
1992-2002. Picton Ski Boat. Part ownership with 3 other week-end water-skiers. Had her for 10 years - great fun while it lasted.
1995-2000.Alfa GTV. Just wanted a red one! Got written off when I was "rear-ended" by a mobile phone using Merc Driving Fat Cat who wasn't paying attention while approaching a roundabout!
2001. Rover 620 Sdi Diesel. Great fuel economy, but bits kept falling off for no apparent reason.
2001-2005.BMW 320 straight 6 - Owned and drove it for 5 years without a problem - the best by far. Eventually died of rust worm.
2005-2006.Daewoo Lanos 1.6sx Hatchback - bought it in a hurry when the Beemer failed it's MOT. Good little car - all the extras and really reliable for the year I had it. It was just so ugly it had to go.
2007. The latest - my little jeep - a Daihatsu Sportrak
